Located 40 km off Mysore.

The star shape of the Somnathpur temples have carved pinnacles.

Having 64 cells, the temple stand on a raised star shaped platform.

The Kesava temple is a fine example of Hoyasala architecture.

It is adorned with exquisite sculptures of Vishnu and there are other images.

The town derives its name from its founder Somnath, the chief commander of the Hoysala army.
